Avants Gaming

Customer Overview

Avants Gaming is a Malaysia-based gaming technology company operating a cross-platform gaming ecosystem that serves players across PC, mobile, and console. Its platform supports matchmaking, leaderboard management, tournament hosting, in-game payment processing, and real-time player analytics — serving a growing B2B and B2C user base across Southeast Asia.

As the platform scaled, Avants Gaming required a more resilient, low-latency, and cloud-native infrastructure to support concurrent users, peak tournament events, and future regional expansion.

The Challenge

Avants Gaming's existing infrastructure relied on a mix of on-premise servers and legacy cloud resources, with containerized services deployed in a less standardized manner. As player traffic grew, several critical challenges emerged:

  • Inability to handle high-concurrency spikes during tournaments and game launches
  • Limited horizontal scalability for game backend and matchmaking services
  • Operational overhead from self-managed databases and caching layers
  • Inadequate observability and log management for real-time incident response
  • Lack of a standardized CI/CD pipeline and IaC-based deployment workflow

Solution Architecture

Avants Gaming Platform Architecture on AWS

Architecture Overview

This architecture is designed to support a scalable, low-latency gaming platform on AWS in the Malaysia region. Game clients connect via Route 53, CloudFront, and AWS Global Accelerator, protected by AWS Shield and WAF. Core gaming services run on Amazon EKS across multiple Availability Zones, with managed Redis, MySQL, and MongoDB layers. DynamoDB and S3 handle APK distribution and platform storage, while a dedicated DevOps and Log Hub layer provides full observability and governance.

Technical Highlights

  • Multi-AZ EKS deployment for high-concurrency game backend services
  • CloudFront + AWS Global Accelerator for low-latency global player access
  • AWS Shield and WAF for DDoS protection and edge security
  • ElastiCache for Redis for session, leaderboard, and matchmaking cache
  • Amazon DynamoDB and S3 for APK delivery and scalable platform storage
  • AWS KDS, Lambda, and CloudWatch via Log Hub for centralized observability

Key Benefits

  • Supports high-concurrency gaming sessions and tournament spikes
  • Reduces player latency through edge delivery and global acceleration
  • Improves platform resilience with automated failover across AZs
  • Strengthens security posture with DDoS protection and KMS encryption
  • Provides a cloud-native foundation for regional and global expansion

How We Solved It

Yanhuang proposed a full migration and modernization plan designed to support containerized gaming services, cloud-native deployment, real-time data processing, and player-grade observability.

Container Migration

Migration of game backend services to Amazon EKS for elastic orchestration and multi-AZ deployment

Database Modernization

Adoption of Amazon RDS MySQL, ElastiCache for Redis, and DynamoDB for player data and real-time cache workloads

APK & Asset Delivery

Amazon S3 and CloudFront for global APK distribution, static asset hosting, and lifecycle management

Observability Stack

AWS KDS, Lambda, and CloudWatch integrated via Log Hub for centralized log ingestion and real-time alerting

CI/CD Modernization

Standardized deployment pipelines with IaC, GitOps workflows, and container registry via Amazon ECR

Security Baseline

Shield, WAF, IAM, KMS, and CloudTrail for edge protection, access governance, and audit readiness
